One year ago, I started a GLP-1.
I haven’t talked about it at length because everyone’s journey and reasoning are so different. I also never want to sound like I am giving medical advice or suggesting one thing will work for every human.
However, it’s been an incredible medication for me — and not because of weight loss (yes, I use the em dash regularly, no ChatGPT did not write this).
This past year, I was also diagnosed with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. The diagnosis explains a plethora of lifelong symptoms: unexplained bruising, horrendous circulation, extreme mobility, joint instability, incredibly reactive skin, etc.
In my research during the diagnosis process, I came across the fact that GLP-1s can greatly reduce inflammation, which can in turn improve many of the symptoms I was experiencing.
I started on a baby dose of .25 and am currently taking .75 mg per week. So by full dose standards, I’m not on a lot.
Obviously from these side-by-side photos, you can see the inflammation reduction has been incredible. I truly believe I had the same amount of muscle a year ago, but I was also battling inflammation so it wasn’t as obvious. Even the difference in my skin coloring blows my mind.
